How To Grow & Scale Your Business: Business Growth Strategy
The Value Flywheel
The Value Flywheel is a system for leading and managing your business which creates exceptional value, and gets your business running (mostly) without you.
By deliberate, focused effort in five key areas, you can significantly increase the value of your business (and feel more relaxed and in-control!).
I've selected the top articles for each element of the Value Flywheel and grouped them into five sections:
The inner ring shows the five outcomes that contribute to your business's value. The outer ring shows the fifteen levers you use to deliver those outcomes.
Building an engaged team
Research shows highly engaged teams deliver significantly better results. Unfortunately, though, an engaged team is an outcome, not an input! So, it's more than just trying to hire motivated and engaged people. The posts below describe how to increase employee engagement throughout your business.

Building customer loyalty
Next up is your existing customer base. Protecting their business and strengthening your relationships with them now creates time and space to implement your growth strategy. Loyal customers buy more, more often and refer other customers. So how do you develop a value proposition that builds a loyal customer base? And create recurring revenue streams that make your life easier, your profits more certain, and your business more valuable?
Developing your growth strategy
Third is your growth strategy. This isn’t just about selling existing products to new customers. It’s about understanding how the market is changing and positioning yourself to take advantage, like Amazon did 25 years ago (but maybe on a smaller scale). The growth strategy value driver defines how you're going to grow and what's required to make that happen.
Getting stuff done
The fourth value driver is about getting things done, about delivering consisently. It keeps people focused and builds momentum. It balances the demand for short-term results with the time spent developing the capabilities required to support the growth strategy. This is the performance management value driver
Generating free cashflow
Last, but by no means least, is the cashflow generation value driver. It’s about making sure you minimise the cash you need to support growth, implement an optimal pricing strategy, and manage your costs and margins. It’s the bit where the value jigsaw comes together.
